Open Source Software - What is it?
For those of you who are web design/or web management people you may already know what open source is. Open source is is a development methodology, which offers practical accessibility to a product’s source (goods and knowledge). Some consider open source as one of various possible design approaches, while others consider it a critical strategic element of their operations.
“Before open source became widely adopted, developers and producers used a variety of phrases to describe the concept; the term open source gained popularity with the rise of the Internet, which provided access to diverse production models, communication paths, and interactive communities.
The open source model of operation and decision making allows concurrent input of different agendas, approaches and priorities, and differs from the more closed, centralized models of development. The principles and practices are commonly applied to the development of source code for software that is made available for public collaboration, and it is usually released as open-source software.”
Now with that I give you one of the best open source software packages around PHPBB. This is an open source forum software package that is second to none. Admin’s are able to create forums, catagories, layout and much more in this software. A great source of information on this software is PhpBB Plus. The site has been around for a couple of years and has gone over some major overhauling. Give it a good look and if you like it download the free software for your site.
No commentsThe Sopranos DVD Boxset Seasons 1-6
The Sopranos…. who doesn’t like ‘em? I for one, am a huge fan ever since I saw Tony wack his first gangster when the show first started. It was the same routine every week, get up, go to work, get ready for the Sopranos. Why not? It was the best thing on t.v. since sliced bread… (well that doesn’t make much sense) but you see what i mean.
These guys that are always out making money the rough way, cheating on their wives, and wacking other gangsters all before coming home for dinner to their family number 2. Who doesn’t love that? In all seriousness there is nothing strange about a boring family guy like me being infatuated with a family like the Sopranos. We know it’s something that we would never do but It seems like so much fun.
The Sopranos has come out with their full 6 seasons release on DVD in a nice boxset. The Boxset is great along with bonus features for each season. If you have yet to experience the Sopranos or are a seasoned vet, you need to pick up this boxset. You can get it at www.dvdsupplier.net.
No commentsCredit Cards - Worth the APR?
When was the last time you said a credit card was worth the APR or Annual Percentage Rate? The only way you can get a good one is if you have good credit, and the only way you can get good credit is to have credit cards in good standing? Right? What am I missing here?
The public is so naive when it comes to credit cards and their use and many people have had to filed bankruptcy because of the ease of use. I know when I got my first credit card I wanted to buy a new stereo for my car and 10 disc changer, yep… my first credit card was to Best Buy. The worst place for an 18 year old to have a card.
Little did I know back then that the card carried a 28% APR!!! Umm, excuse me?? I only started noticing this when I was making the monthly minimums and the balance was going up! That didn’t make much sense to me until I pulled out the small piece of paper in the monthly bill and on the back in very small print it said:
APR: 28.4% WOW!
Needless to say I learned a little about money and credit back then, but it sure didn’t stop me from getting other cards and charging them up as well. These cards are just too damn easy I tell ya.
Well, now i’m 30 and only have a few Credit Cards… which I rarely use and am always making a payment over the minimum. All in all I learned some very valuable lessons with credit cards:
1. Do not spend what you cannot repay right away.
2. Never get a card that has higher than around 15% APR, or you will never get that stupid thing paid off.
3. Only carry 2 credit cards, 1 for emergencies and 1 for gas or small things that you can pay off right away.
Heed my words people, Credit cards can kill you or help you. I hope you choose what’s behind door number 2.
No commentsThe new Macanudo Cigar 1968
Here is a review of the new Macanudo cigar as written by InTheHumidor.com. We agree with the assesment here as the cigar is very good. What a difference between the Macanudo of old and the 1968.
Macanduo 1968 Toro Cigar Review
Country: Nicaragua, DR, Honduras
Length/Ring: 6 x 54
Shape: Toro
Wrapper: Honduras
Strength: Med-Full
M.S.R.P: $9.50/Stick
My Rating: 4.75 Stars
Here it is folks, the new Macanudo 1968. I know, I know, you have been waiting for this cigar for so long becuase of your life long devotion to the old Mac… right? Uhhh, yeah I didn’t think so. So when General Cigar Co. decided to expose this new creation at the IPCPR show I for one was a little skeptical. On to the cigar itself.
What a beautiful display this cigar is. From its shiny gold lined band to it’s oily sheen it truly is a beautiful cigar. Very small veins were visible on this cigar and the foot had a smell of cedar and coffee. I could not wait to fire this baby up. On the initial light up I got great flavors of hay, coffee, and toffee. Wow! I couldn’t believe my senses were telling me that a Macanudo had these flavors, but as everyone out there is saying… “This ain’t your father’s Macanudo.” This is in fact the new and improved Macanudo from General and it’s about time!
The cigar must have changed on me 4 times going from medium, to Full bodied and vise versa. The flavors were outstanding throughout. I think I may have found another favorite! Although, they would have to work on the M.S.R.P in order to make it a daily smoke. 40years in the making they say… What took you so long?? The Macanudo 1968 is not my fathers cigar, it’s mine!
General is offering a deal on all 3 sizes for the Macanudo 1968 currently for $9.95, here is the link: Macanudo 1968 Offer!
